We just can't get enough of celebrating our dear mothers even though Mother's Day has ended. We love them so much for all the sacrifices they made just to give us a good life.
More often than not, when we grow up, we tend to take our moms for granted. We make friendships outside of the home or meet a special someone that we're mostly not around with our families. We plan activities with our friends yet we forget to make special memories with our family, not realizing that they are the people who have been by our side from birth to forever.
Moms understand this. They know that after taking care of their children for 18 years and a few more, they'll grow up and move out of the house to start their new lives. It's painful but it's the reality of life. It's also what we call unconditional love in the play. We have different phases of our lives, and we have to play our roles in them. Mothers know that they will always be there to support their children even though they're not a daily presence anymore for them.
So it's important that we celebrate Mother's Day every day. Most of us might live near our parents yet we don't see them every day. Most may still live with their parents but are always not home. Or some may have moved far away to a different country or state where physical distance can't be avoided. Our simple suggestion? Go see your mom. What is 24 hours off of your busy schedule to show how much you love the woman who raised you? It's the perfect opportunity to see each other, catch up, and create beautiful memories.
Now people are wired differently. There are those who prefer to stay at home and have intimate reunions. There are those who like to go out and do something they won't normally do together on a normal day. Some book trips from far away and make sure they have a one-of-a-kind celebration, complete with pictures that will fill up physical and digital photo albums.
In consideration of these types of people, we've listed down places you can go to that will hopefully put a smile on your Mother's face, and on the rest of the family of course.
Local Park
Why not make a picnic out of this beautiful occasion? You may cook together with your mom, picking out special recipes from family traditions. Or try out new recipes you saw online. You may start the day by deciding what will be your picnic menu in the afternoon. When that's decided, shop the ingredients from the local market or grocery store together. Afterward, clean them and cook together in the kitchen while catching up with everything that has been happening in your life. After cooking, prepare the picnic mat and basket and get ready to walk or drive to the local park. Look for your spot and prepare your spread in a fancy way. Make sure to take photos and make your mom feel the most special!
Salon / Skin Clinic / Spa
It can be a great day for pampering. Mothers are often tired of being superheroes or multitaskers in the household. If they work, their hours extend long after office time is done. They clean the house and make sure everything is fine. They hardly rest and they would surely enjoy it if they could pamper themselves even for one whole day.
Why not suggest a brand-new haircut for them? Give them the option to dye their hair too. They would surely love the change after a long time of not being in the salon. While their hair is being done, you may ask a nail technician in the salon to do their fingernails and toenails as well. They can even be treated to a foot spa as well before the mani-pedi session.
Before or after, you can also visit the skin clinic for a facial which will leave your face refreshed and energized. You can also stop by the spa for a much-needed, relaxing massage. You would love the aroma of the spa as well as the scents which are all designed to help you and your mom relax.
Theater / Opera House
Why not take your mom to watch a stage play or an opera? If your mom loves this kind of entertainment, she will surely be up on her toes if she finds out that someone bought her a ticket. Make sure to get good seats so that your mom will love the whole experience and won't find anything inconvenient that may ruin the day. Ask your mom to dress up for it as well because it's part of the experience. Your mom who is usually in her sweats would be glad that she's able to glam up at least for a day.
Another Country
Take your mom to a destination she has always wanted to go, a place that she has been mentioning since time immemorial. Travel might have been put on the backburner when you were growing up so your mom might have not traveled for a long time. Now that you have the means to buy her a ticket, don't hesitate to pay it forward and make your mom the happiest. She'd surely love the adventure, especially because her wallet won't be paying for it! In all seriousness, your mom would love that it's a gift from you.
Home
There's nothing quite like home so just seeing you come home will already bring a smile to your mom's face. She probably hasn't seen you for the longest time so just to see you in the flesh would surely bring up her spirits. Why not bring her a gift, maybe a piece of ergonomic furniture, so that you can give her comfort, convenience, and luxury while she finishes her daily tasks.
