What is the correct height when using a standing desk?

If we're dealing with traditional fixed-height tables, the average height, if such a thing exists, is roughly 30". However, it's crucial to remember that the typical desk height is not suitable for taller or shorter-than-average people. The ideal height for a standing desk will vary based on who uses it; thus, there is no "one size fits all" solution. As a result, it is critical to choose a customizable standing desk that can accommodate your exact anthropometric physique. Based on your chair adjustability, intended use, height, body measurements, and other considerations, the ideal desk height can vary by several inches. How can you test for the height?

Sit or stand as if working with your elbows bent at a 90-degree angle. This is about the height you'll want your workstation to be, whether sitting or standing, with your forearms even lower, but most flat desktops don't support it. Such postures would need the use of a keyboard tray with a tilt.

Once you've determined the height of your workspace, you need also consider screen height. You'll have to make a choice between desktop height and monitor height if you don't have a keyboard tray and/or a monitor arm. It's unlikely that you'll be able to get your desktop at the proper height to avoid wrist pain while still keeping it high enough to prevent neck discomfort.

The highest point of your monitor arm, plus the height from the rear of your monitor's mount to the upper portion of your display, must be greater or equal to your eye level minus the desktop height. This guarantees that a monitor arm has an adequate height to bring you and your setup into the ergonomically proper position. Once you've fitted a monitor arm, your monitor should be adjusted so that your head is held in a neutral posture, not leaned forward or backward. By turning your eyes downward, you should then be able to see the entire screen area comfortably without tipping your head forward.
